Xbox Crystal Limited Edition: Official
Microsoft confirms last week's speculation that the fake images were, in fact, genuine!
Last week saw heavy speculation and a series of images circulating the Interweb, suggesting a 'crystal' limited edition version of Xbox would be released in the next few months. However, most news sources passed the images off as fakes, suggesting it was merely the translucent-green debug/LE version of Xbox, desaturated in PhotoShop.
But they were all wrong, as Microsoft has announced that Crystal Limited Edition of its lovely Xbox machine is hitting stores in March. As if to prove it, they sent us these pictures as well.
Available across Europe from Spring 2004, the "crystal clear" new console comes with two crystal controllers and will retail for €199/£139 (SRP).
Xbox EMEA boss Michel Cassius said: "The new Crystal Xbox is a beautiful piece of technology that any gamer would be proud to own. To be able to see through to the very heart of the Xbox is a cool thing and we believe that gamers will love this for their homes."
An exact release date is forthcoming, but it's not expected to be Xbox's European birthday of March 4, which falls on a Sunday this year.
