Quest of D: Details, Screens, Video
Sega-AM2 reveals new touch-screen arcade game - see it in direct feed here, along with probably the only decent screens you'll find.
As we mentioned last year, Sega's AM2 studio has been hard at work on a new network-based touch-screen arcade game, called Quest of D. The game got a full unveiling at Friday's AOU show in Tokyo.
The story of Quest of D (not to be confused with Initial D, or 'VF Quest' for that matter) revolves around a powerful book of forbidden magic, handed down through the ages, which bad guy 'Fogol' has stolen to, er, control the world or something.
The actual game is a tad more exciting. Set mainly in dungeon-like places, your character must battle through levels defeating cool-looking enemies like skeletons and dragons in a turns-based combat system, boasting some cool special moves like fireballs.
Being the masters of networked arcade gaming with it's VF.net card system, Sega-AM2 has incorporated a similar feature into Initial D, known as D.net.
But possibly the coolest aspect of the game is the touch-screen interface, which you can see in use in our direct feed video footage. The interface allows you to store up on items before attacking turns-style, while a regular arcade stick layout enables navigation and presumably other elements of battle.
Despite representing a shift away from AM2's traditional arcade style, Quest of D does look and sound like an AM2 title, as fans will detect from the video.
Stay tuned for more - the game hits Japan this Summer. In the meantime be sure to check out the footage.
