A Peek at PS3 and Xbox 2 Graphics
The first game for PS3 and Xbox 2 was recently announced, and this is what the in-game engine is capable of.
Developer Digital Extremes recently unveiled its game engine for a game called Dark Sector, a game headed to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 2 at some stage in the future - and the first game officially announced for both formats.
Digital Extremes says the trailer for the game, which you can download below, is not pre-rendered, but entirely authentic in-game real-time graphics, running off an engine said to reflect the expected specs of next gen consoles.
Frankly the impressive visuals, which depict some futuristic space style setting, aren't particularly surprising when you considering next gen specs, or when you consider GDC's solid XNA demos, or even if you look at what high-end PCs are capable of at the moment. But as the first true next gen project announced, gamers are likely to remember it when the sea of first generation titles arrives "at launch".
Nothing else is known about the game, but stay tuned for more at some stage.
