Ghost Recon 2: New Screens & Video
Check the latest Tom Clancy gaming media.
Following last month's announcement that Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 will offer "completely" different versions of the game for PS2 and Xbox, UbiSoft has passed along this new media of the game including a lengthy gameplay video.
The PC version is now scheduled to launch in early 2005, with further details on the port to follow.
The PS2 version of the game, from UbiSoft's Shanghai studio (creators of Splinter Cell for PS2) is set in 2007, while the Xbox version, from Red Storm Entertainment, is set in 2011. The PS2 version acts as a prequel to the Xbox outing, and runs on a modified Unreal engine, as opposed to the Ghost Recon engine Red Storm is using for the Xbox take on the game.
UbiSoft's Florence Alibert offered, "whatever the platform, Ghost Recon 2 will immerse gamer in the chaos of modern war, whether in single player or in multiplayer. Where the original Ghost Recon's featured award-winning multiplayer levels, its sequel will be second to none."
The game is hyped as offering "emotionally charged storyline" as well as a completely redesigned graphics engine and the most intuitive gameplay the series has seen to date, to fully immerse gamers into the chaos of a high tech war. The game will offer "white-knuckle tension" and "explosive action" as it puts players in command of an elite squad of U.S. Special Forces.
