Street Racing Syndicate to PS2, Xbox
Another game taps into the rice-rocket market.
There must be few greater thrills than taking a VW Golf VR6 out on to the sweaty streets of Miami headlong through the oncoming traffic. Sadly, the threat of death and/or incarceration is enough to put most of us off, which is where SRS: Street Racing Syndicate comes in.
The game is set on the tracks and streets of such fun-capitals of the world as Los Angeles, Philadelphia and the aforementioned Miami and offers a glimpse into the underground car-modding and racing scene, a la Need for Speed Underground.
There's a healthy stable of more than 40 street racers available for you to customise as you see fit - using any of hundreds of aftermarket parts. What's more, the cars suffer damage - prompting a bit more caution than some other examples of this bulging sub-genre.
Firmly targeted at young men, the title provides an abundance of attractive women who form an integral part of the experience. By completing various challenges, you vie for the attention of 18 models plucked from the US car-modding scene.

SRS: Street Racing Syndicate offers singleplayer modes and off and online multiplayer, with up to four people racing to win each other's cars.
SRS: Street Racing Syndicate will be released for PlayStation 2 and Xbox this spring.
