DOA: The Movie - First Screens & Trailer!
Naked chicks! The makers of the upcoming Dead or Alive movie have released the first trailer to mixed reactions from gamers - we've got the trailer and tonnes of photos! Plus - a few new screens from DOA4.
As we reported way back in April 2003, the hugely popular Tecmo & Team Ninja fighting game franchise, Dead or Alive, is coming to the big screen.
And, as DOA series creator, Tomonobu Itagaki, revealed at the start of this year in our second most recent interview with him, "there's already casting going on... I say, let the professionals in Hollywood decide... I think we can count on them.". Well, now, we can begin to get an idea as to whether Itagaki's faith in Hollywood will pay off...
Filming on DOA: Dead or Alive, as it's officially named kicked off in the summer, and since then, those editors have been cutting away to release this teaser trailer for the anticipated 2006, um, "release". It's teasing alright, but not in the way you might expect. It's pretty lengthy for a teaser trailer and shows a lot of characters and stuff.
More teasing is the naked flesh we see - surely worth examining in the download below, for game-to-movie research purposes. The girls, including DOA favourites Kasumi, Christie, Ayane and Tina, all look great in the movie, which sees them kicking various ass in surprisingly decent-looking locations.
Cory Yuen, whose work has included The Transporter, Lethal Weapon 4 and Romeo Must Die, shot the film on location in China and Hong Kong.
The film, which is based on a script co-written by Pretty Woman scribe J.F. Lawton, stars an array of lithe, young Hollywood twentysomethings, including Jaime Pressly (Not Another Teen Movie), pop star and former Neighbours TV actress Holly Valance, Devon Aoki (Sin City), Matthew Marsden (Black Hawk Down) and Eric Roberts (National Security).
However, will the movie turn out to be plain old crap? Judging by the trailer, it's a possibility; things may well run the risk of slight overkill on the Charlie's Angels-esque girl-power nonsense front, but nonetheless, we'll be the first in line to see it. Can we have some free tickets to the premiere please, someone?
DOA: Dead or Alive is scheduled for release sometime next year. We may or may not keep you updated! By the way. Included just below are some new Dead or Alive 4 screens which we stole from some Japanese magazine. We might as well put them up here otherwise they'll just stay hanging around making our hard discs all messy. Full review soon!
