New Mario Platformer for GameCube
Yes, Mario is coming to the Wii, and it makes us happy, but so does the revelation of a Mario platformer for the Cube. First screens.
Nintendo made sure to tout its new Mario game, Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii at its E3 conference on Monday but there wasn't a peep about another platform game starring the plumber. And this one is coming to the GameCube.
Dubbed Super Paper Mario, the game takes the style of the hit Paper Mario RPG series and uses it to paint a traditional, Super Mario Bros-esque 2D platforming game. Or at least that's how the experience starts.
Nintendo says what looks like a familiar albeit beautiful take on Super Mario Bros turns into a "3D action-adventure that defies all video game logic".
The game mixes traditional platforming with RPG elements, meaning your characters grow and get better at stomping baddies. And, yes, we said characters. In addition to Mario, you'll also be able to play with Princess Peach and longtime Mario antagonist Bowser.
Look for Super Paper Mario to hit the GameCube sometime this autumn.
