Pay-To-Play Coming to Lumines Live

Tetsuya Mizuguchi's puzzler is coming to the Xbox Live Arcade, but there could be some monetary obstacles to your enjoyment.

The PSP has had something of a rocky first year, but one game that has managed to live longer than most is Rez creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi's puzzle game Lumines. Now the series is coming to the Xbox Live Arcade, and it's bringing a load of new stuff with it.

Probably the least attractive element of Lumines Live is how the pricing will work. In an interview with Game Informer, Mizuguchi said that you will be able to buy the basic form of Lumines Live through the Xbox Live Arcade, but if you want to play multiplayer you're going to have to cough up a bit more money.

"At least that's the way we have it planned right now," he said. "We're still trying to determine if we'll package versus in the base package."

Lumines Live will make full use of its new dwelling on Xbox Live. You'll be able to download new music and other features. Here too, you'll need to pay for downloaded content, but the high-tech options opened up by being an Xbox 360 game means you'll be able to play in high definition. Some of the music will also be available in 5.1 surround sound.

Microsoft hasn't said when Lumines Live will be out, but we've been told to expect it sometime this summer.
