WiFI Whipping in Castlevania DS
IGA says he's thinking about letting you whip with a friend over WiFi Connect.
The Castlevania series has been a regular visitor to Nintendo consoles, most recently making waves on the DS in Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.
That game irked some with its touch-screen gameplay that seemed thrown in simply for the sake of using the touch-screen. But, as series creator Koji Igarashi says in a new interview with Game Informer, we can expect an easier time of things in the follow-up, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin.
"It felt a little uncomfortable after beating a boss to get your stylus out and draw a magic seal," Igarashi told Game Informer. It seems to stop the moment of pure action. Personally speaking, I was playing the game with my finger and not the stylus, and my screen got really messed up."
The next game will use the second screen mainly for showing the world map.
More interesting than features being left out are those that are being added, and especially the prospect of online play. Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin has two characters you can swap on the fly, and Igarashi says he's thinking about ways to incorporate online play over Nintendo's WiFi Connect service.
"It's not confirmed yet," explains Igarashi, "because I haven't started work on it. [Laughs] That's why I can't confirm. But actually I'm thinking about preparing a special unlockable stage where you can do co-op over WiFi."
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin will be out for the DS in November.
