Rockstar's next-gen opus exposed in first ever trailer and 20 shots. Don't stand for crappy low-quality streams!
A more realistic, serious tone sets the scene in the impressive next-gen debut of Rockstar's untouchable series, as the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV was revealed today, presented below in 720p along with a shed load of screenshot captures.
The return of Liberty City is confirmed and will be recognisable to anyone as New York City, with views of the game's fictionalised Chrysler building, Times Square, the Statue of Liberty all popping up in the trailer. The time period appears to be present day.
The game's protagonist, meanwhile, appears to have an interesting story to tell. Possibly of Eastern European or Middle-Eastern background, he states: "Life is complicated. I've killed people, smuggled people, sold people. Perhaps here, things will be different."
The graphically outstanding sequence is running from the game's powerful real-time graphics engine, and takes the series to the next stage with stunning lighting effects and detail. If you thought Rockstar's Table Tennis looked nice, see what the game's RAGE engine is doing with GTA4.
A musical score by Academy Award-nominated American composer, Phillip Glass, adds to a tangible, tense atmosphere. There's going to be a lot more to learn about what's been happening in the Big Apple.
