GT5 Prologue Lands F1 Ferrari as Pre-Orders Surge

First images of the superfast, superexpensive Formula 1 car in the teaser.

Much of the fun in Gran Turismo is in filling up a garage with cars that would make an oil sheik turn green. Among the cars that will be found in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue when it comes out later this month is one that might just push the sheik over the edge.

The Ferrari F2007 is a fully endorsed virtual recreation of the Formula 1 team's car from last year. Incorporating full Formula 1 physics and coming in Ferrari red, the racer will be the pinnacle of the pickings in the PlayStation 3 game. But it won't come cheap; the car will be available in-game for 2 million credits.

Calling it a "God Mode within Gran Turismo" on Blog.PlayStation, Sony's Taku Imasaki said that "driving it is an adrenaline-pumping, hair-standing, goose-bumping experience".

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is a taster of the full game in development by Kazunori Yamauchi's team at Sony's internal Polyphony Digital studio.

There's already a major buzz surrounding the game. Sony said this week that pre-orders across European are nearing one million, according to Eurogamer.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue for PlayStation 3 will be released on Blu-ray on 26 March and as a download from the PlayStation Store on 27 March.
