Kikizo: What are Sumo Digital like to work with?
Macdonald: Sumo are awesome, they're awesome to work with. They get games, and they have a passion for games. We worked with them on Track and Field, and certainly we want to work with those guys again. They're really talented, dedicated...
Kikizo: Will the game have any new tracks at release, or will it be a straight port of the arcade version?
Macdonald: The initial download? It will be Monaco, Monte Carlo.
Kikizo: What about having different types of cars, like exotics or tune-ups?
Macdonald: Yeah we thought it might be quite fun to put huge lorries or trucks in it... we could do anything!
Kikizo: Because if you stuck a sports car in there, it would almost be like Ridge Racer...
Macdonald: More like Mario Kart meets Ridge Racer.
Kikizo: How many downloadable games are you guys working on at the moment?
Macdonald: In Europe we're only doing this one.
Kikizo: And if this one is successful?
Macdonald: I'd love to do more. I'd love to remake Rocket Knight, bring that to PSN, but at the moment PSN's kind of uncharted territory for Konami, so touch wood this does really well, it needs the figures. We didn't really want to make anything, stick it on Xbox Live Arcade, we really wanted to redo it properly.
Kikizo: Just to clarify, what's the definitive reason you won't put this on Xbox 360?
I don't know, it wasn't my decision. I think at the time we just thought the Xbox Live audience were used to retro, cheap ports, and we didn't want to put this on there because we think it's better than that. So we chose to go with PlayStation Network. I'm not saying it's going to be on PSN forever, but at the moment - that's the decision that was taken.
Kikizo: There wouldn't be much risk in sticking it on both services, surely...
Oh yeah, to be fair once you've done a PlayStation one you could do an Xbox one pretty quickly afterwards...
