Capcom Unveils Onimusha 3
For Those Craving Blood - in a feudal Japan kind of way - Capcom has unveiled Onimusha 3. First screens and a movie inside.
Onimusha 3 has a lot going for it right now. All parties who worked on the previous two titles have been brought back, which means all the experience with the advantage of having twice done it before. Robot will again be responsible for creating all the opening movies, and CG director Takashi Yamazaki is back to lend his guidance.
Capcom has chosen Donnie Yen, Hong Kong action star and director, as action director. The storyline is again being lead by Flagship, who are also responsible for the previous Onimusha scenarios. Can one have too much talent?
Onimusha 3 will feature a dual hero system, which they hope will bring not only a deeper story, but a game overflowing with content. Basically, you'll play either as Jacque Bran, the Frenchman from the 21st century, or as Akechi Samanosuke, the already famous Onimusha warrior. As Akechi is about to face down his rival, Oda Nobunaga, he is taken to the 21st century, along with his enemy, the Genma.
Meanwhile, Jacque's town has become overrun with the Genma demons, and there are only two left people who can save the day. With the two different heroes, there are two entirely different types of action, which already gives the infamous title some leeway to screw up (We at Kikizo still frown upon it though).
Onimusha 3 will also utilize full polygon backgrounds, and is the first of the series to do so. By taking advantage of the graphics capabilities, they hope to create camerawork that will fully immerse you into the story. With battle scenes full of depth, and even more sword wielding fun, the true beauty of the Onimusha world still has yet to be experienced.
