Ghosthunter: First Screenshots
Set to be one of this year's hottest PS2 titles, Sony Cambridge's Ghosthunter shows what its made of in the first few screens.
Fresh from the success of Primal, a game that received a mix of 'good' and 'great' reviews (Kikizo review coming soon), Sony's Cambridge Studio have not stopped to take a breather before unveiling their next project: Ghosthunter.
Ghosthunter has not yet officially been announced (or so we're told), but somebody at SCEE Cambridge has obviously taken the time to grab some screenshots of their next big game, for everyone to get excited about. And they've landed in our hands first!
From what we can tell so far, it looks like the team's experience on Primal is shining through in these first shots. Whereas Primal was a game to be appreciated for its pace and depth - requiring a degree of patience - there is no doubt that Ghosthunter is a visually superior title, if these screens are a true reflection of the final game.
No information has been officially released as yet, but looking at these screens, a tad of logic tells us that the main character is somebody official (hence his badge) whose job it is to give all the ghosts a good seeing to. His weapon of choice appears to be a dual light-up, zap'em type tool - while turning on the light seems to expose some of the baddies, he presumably needs a Luigi's Mansion style vacuum to get rid of them. The gameplay does get slightly more complex that that, from what we've heard... but we'd hate to spoil all the surprises.
Some of the ghosts look truly magnificent - we're not talking white sheets here. No, we're talking full-power, scary behemoths - from the skeletal wrecks, to the deformed eyesores you see in these pics.
So - treat these screens with care - and we'll bring you more information as we get it.
