The Return of Vectorman
Sega has announced that Vectorman is currently in development for the PlayStation 2, and will debut at next month's E3 show.
An old name and face is to return, but not on a Sega system. As Vectorman, a modular robotic soldier on an epic campaign to rescue Gamma 6 from the evil Orbot, Volt, you will enter a third-person action shooter frought with peril. At your disposal is a veritable walking arsenal with interchangeable, upgradeable parts. Vectorman has at his disposal more than 15 weapons and 25 high-tech upgrades that give you the freedom to explore Gamma 6 on your own terms.
Unlike its previous Sega Genesis counterparts, Vectorman will feature an advanced physics engine that will allow for destructible, fully interactive environments. Your task? To lay waste to Volt's mechanized infrastructure. Pillars will topple and bridges will crumble, allowing you the choice to either take cover behind the rubble or use the debris as a deadly weapon.
The game will also include advanced artificial intelligence, supporting a unique living world where Orbots go about their daily lives, working and reacting to Vectorman's every move. Enemy soldiers, however, will adapt to their environment, take cover when attacked and use advanced strategic tactics. The end result is deep, varied combat that will challenge you to react to each battle differently.
Sega's Mike Fischer said: "Vectorman doles out destruction in spades. With a massive arsenal of circuit-shredding weapons and upgrades, things are bound to get messy. You'll almost start feeling bad for the Orbots. Almost."
Vectorman is the third installment of the series, which originally appeared on the Sega Genesis. It is currently being developed by Pseudo Interactive and is slated for release in early 2004.
