Dead or Alive Online Details
Speculation indicates that Tecmo's DOA Online will include everything from DOA1 and DOA2. First details inside.
Kikizo's investigative power has unveiled that Tecmo's forthcoming Dead or Alive Online, probably to be revealed on Xbox at E3 next week, will include all the characters and backgrounds from the original Dead or Alive, and Dead or Alive 2.
The game will obviously be Xbox Live compatible... but what else? Apparently, the version of DOA1 included is based on the Japan-only Sega Sturn version (which was graphically far superior to the PlayStation 1 rendition that came out some months later). The Saturn visuals have of course been cleaned up a little, however.
Dead or Alive 2 is also "beautifully recreated", advises our source, with graphics from the Dreamcast and PS2 versions again tweaked for Xbox. However, the Japanese Dreamcast version of DOA2 (the final version to come out, months after the western releases and well after the Japanese PS2 release of the game) was significantly upgraded and featured unlockable characters and backgrounds from DOA1 also. But it wasn't online - so, er... that's new.
With the imminent unveiling of Dead or Alive 4 and next year's movie based on the franchise, DOA clearly has a long lifetime ahead of it yet.
