Outrun 2: First Ever Screens
Here are those first five screens from Sega's forthcoming Chihiro racer, Outrun 2.
Despite all the changes going on over at Sega's development studios, they seem to be as prolific as ever. In particular, AM2 are promising a heap of new titles over the coming months, with the latest in their AAA line-up announced: Outrun 2.
With rumours surrounding Outrun 2 for literally years now, and the existence of the title widely confirmed by Yu Suzuki some time ago, Outrun 2 promises arcade-style racing with the emphasis on fun and accessibility, not simulation (unlike Yu Suzuki's infamous Ferrari 355 racers).
Outrun 2 sports an official license from Ferrari, the manufacturer featured exclusively in the game, with a range of models on offer to suit all drivers.
As you can see from these first screenshots, it looks quite nice so far, and is likely to look a lot better moving. But as the sequel to one of Sega's most celebrated arcade games of all time - 1986's Outrun - this Chihiro-based arcade game has a lot to live up to.
With a general arcade release announced for this Winter, an Xbox conversion is expected next year - and we'd bet several bucks that you can play online as well. We'll be keeping a close eye on this one...
