Breakdown: New Screens and Video
Namco have released screens for their forthcoming Xbox action title Breakdown. Here they are, along with a new direct feed video.
One of the most impactful new trailers shown at E3 this year was at Microsoft's Pre-E3 conference. Breakdown is an Xbox exclusive title from Namco, and although nothing was playable, the trailer was quite impressive.
The story goes something like this. Trapped inside a mysterious laboratory and unable to remember his past, Derrick Cole discovers his extraordinary powers as he fights for survival against a determined military faction and a legion of seemingly invincible super-human warriors!
Breakdown offers firstperson action and adventure gaming by combining hand-to-hand combat and weapons with an intense storyline and incredible graphics in a thrilling and suspenseful search for the truth! Here are some of the features on offer, as described by Namco:
- Unique first person perspective fighting game system.
- Fierce weapon-based FPS combat.
- Compelling science fiction story line told through high-quality real time rendered graphics.
- Detailed, immersive 3D worlds.
- Featuring contemporary licensed music.
- Unprecedented realism in a first person view creates the ultimate gaming experience.
If the level of interactivity is right, and the game does indeed end up looking as good as it did in this trailer, then Namco should have a winner on their hands. Hopefully, it won't turn out like Squaresoft's The Bouncer did - teaching everyone that a kick-ass trailer maketh not a kick-ass videogame...
