Hot New Mario 128 Speculation
Could Nintendo's next big thing really offer the dream platforming formula like this? Check out the word on the street inside...
Nintendo fansite GC Planet is reporting some interesting news regarding Mario 128. After the no-show at this year's E3, which Miyamoto claimed was down to a groundbreaking new feature he didn't want rivals to steal, it might just be that this new concept has been leaked.
According to the report:
The New Mario game is mostly a new 2D adventure, but you'll have the ability to switch into 3D to reveal hidden secrets, defeat enemys and much more that Nintendo won't tell us. Furthermore it will feature favourite characters like Peach, Toad, Luigi, Toadsworth and Birdo.
We reckon the chances of this rather juicy new rumour to be 50/50.
At first, the idea of some kind of 2.5D mechanism in Mario 128 seems like nonsense when you look at the true 3D direction pioneered by Mario 64 - but when you consider that devoted gamers crave 2D platforming action as much as, if not more than 3D, it would indeed be something special if Miyamoto has finally found an innovative way to give gamers the best of both worlds in one groundbreakingly designed platformer. From the description offered, it does sound rather enticing.
However, it is equally likely to be groundless information. But - as it's cool - we thought you should know.
