Killzone: Official Details & Screens
SCEE finally annouced Killzone this morning. Take a look at five lovely screenshots and the first, official details.
After a considerable wave of pre-announcement hype, SCEE have officially announced Killzone and released the first proper screenshots. Developed by Amsterdam based Guerrilla (formerly Lost Boys games) and supporting full online gameplay, the PS2 exclusive title takes inspiration from major 20th century theatres of war, from the trenches of the Somme, the street fighting of Stalingrad to the guerrilla warfare of Vietnam.
According to Sony's announcement, Killzone is "very much a war game where you are at the centre of a totally immersive experience".
Killzone is set in the near future, in a period of planetary colonisation and revolves around a savage conflict between forces that are still loyal to Earth (the ISA) and a separatist, militaristic faction who call themselves the Helghast. The game follows a squad of four soldiers on a suicidal mission behind enemy lines, as they fight to undermine and defeat the Helghast forces following their devastating Blitzkrieg attack on the human colony.
You have the choice of taking control of one of the four soldiers thrust together in the chaos of war. But while the game is very much a single player game the importance of your squad can never be underestimated as only together can you survive the Killzone.
Stay tuned for an onslaught of further details and more screenshots over the coming weeks and months.
