Nintendo's N5 to Develop Connectivity?
Satoru Iwata has made more interesting remarks about next-generation Nintendo hardware. Here's the latest.
Iwata: Feel the power of my connectivity. |
Speaking at an analyst briefing, Iwata commented that Nintendo is "preparing a new product which will be surprising and unique. [Sony's] multi-function handheld device will not have a big impact on our business. But we are preparing for our future."
Iwata would not comment further on the nature of the new product, or whether he was referring to successors to either the GameCube or GBA, citing "competitive reasons" for the secrecy. He added: "We will tell you the specifics next spring."
Our guess is that Nintendo's aim is still to bring GameCube 2 - or N5 as it is known in development circles - to market before its competitors release next-gen hardware, but that in this case Iwata was referring to a new device that will develop the concept of 'connectivity', which the company ferociously pursues.
So many secret ideas! What with the revolutionary concept at the heart of Mario 128, you have to wonder exactly how just amazing all this stuff is actually going to be. We will have to wait and see.
In other Nintendo news, it has been confirmed that Nintendo is working with Namco to develop the next Donkey Kong game for GameCube - the same combination that has been taking care of the StarFox franchise. "Rare Who?", Iwata probably commented.
