New Driver 3 Screens Impress
Reflections and Atari show a disappointingly short 45 second video at ECTS, but the new screenshots look pretty damn hot.
At ECTS this week, the Atari showed off a new video clip of Driver 3, which it is suggested might topple Vice City from the number one position in the mission-based driving genre.
Unfortunately the video clip was very short at just 45 seconds, and worse, it consisted mostly of rendered CGI sequences. The rendered sequences were nice though. The in-game engine kicks in after a while, with a scene reminiscent of Terminator 3's truck chase devastating everything in its path, before eventually hurtling off from a bridge to continue speeding on the road below.
As offered in this screenshot evidence, the in-game visuals are realistic and detailed. The city in the game looks incredible - a sleepy town in desperate need of some car chases and gunfights, with details such as palm trees, building architecture and texture, and obviously the vehicles themselves combining to make an almost photo-realistic environment.
Thankfully, the in-game footage we saw didn't look anywhere near as - wait for it - 'jaggy' as in the screenshots shown here, which we think is down to some kind of substandard screen dumping process.
Expect Driver 3 footage to hit very soon, and in the meantime we suggest you click on these screens to see what they look like up-close.
