Kojima in Making Things Up Shocker!
If the Metal Gear Solid creator's thinking is consistent, then we can look forward to MGS4 from Kojima after all.
Speaking in a Q&A session at the PlayStation Experience, Kojima is said to have stated that Metal Gear Solid 3 would be the last in the series he'd work on, handing over the duties for any further titles to somebody else at Konami.
However, those who followed the MGS2 pre-launch hype closely might remember he said exactly the same thing about the second title being his last - then a Kojima-directed MGS3 turned up at E3 after all. If Kojima's thinking is consistent, he will likely forget all his plans again, and continue the series forever!
Speaking in Febuary 2001, using the same translator still working with him today, Kojima told us: "If [MGS3] happened, I would work more as a producer like Sakaguchi-san works on the Final Fantasy games, and let a younger, new director take on the main creative duties. If that happens, it'll be MGS3, but it won't be a 'Kojima' Metal Gear... it'll work more as the vision of someone else. Personally speaking, I'd like to work on something else."
So there you have it. We're a bit worried about the fellow, since he doesn't appear to remember his plans for the series. We're guessing Konami convinced a hesitant Kojima to take on MGS3 with a tidy bonus, so what's to say they won't do the same for MGS4?
