Outrun 2: Details & 34 Stunning Screens
Check out a truckload of new Outrun 2 screens, along with new details about this exceptionally pretty arcade racer.
Arguably Sega-AM2's most anticipated sequel of all time - Outrun 2 - is coming further out of testing stage and into arcades soon. These new screenshots show that the racer looks absolutely outstanding, with a bright, arcadey graphical quality that's tough to match on any hardware.
It has been revealed that, in addition to the first three courses - Palm Beach, Deep Lake and Alpine (which these screens are taken from) - there will be a further twelve courses, bringing the total up to at least fifteen tracks - not bad at all for an arcade game.
The player will progress through the championship, blonde companion in passenger seat, taking on five courses in succession. Behind the wheel of a range of vehicles including the Ferrari F50, arcade-goers will find it tough not to be distracted by the awesome scenery, which amazes with glistening, rippling lakes on the Deep Lake course; palm tree shadows cast atop your speeding vehicle on Palm Beach; and phenomenal texture detail and draw distance on Alpine.
We can't wait to get our hands on Outrun 2 - which is still strongly suggested to come to Xbox at some stage next year - so watch out for a full hands-on playtest very soon. In the meantime, we'll be hoping for a home version announcement at X03 next week...
