Top Spin: Hi-Res Gameplay Videos
X03: More hands-on, this time with the latest version of Microsoft's Top Spin, results in video downloads aplenty.
Continuing our Xbox video frenzy, we're pleased to offer some lovely hi-res videos of Top Spin. Upon its arrival, casual onlookers were blown away by the phenomenal graphical realism of the game - and a few matches later and it was clearly enjoyable to play too.
Anyone who's ever played Sega's Virtua Tennis series will know that tennis videogame are about two hundred times more entertaining than watching the sport on television. Obviously we'll be saving judgement on Microsoft's own effort until the full review, but this latest version of the game points towards Top Spin being fantastic to play.
With an all-star line-up of real players including Anna Kournikova, Pete Sampras and Lleyton Hewitt, authentic stadia and big tournaments, the game doesn't fail to deliver in terms of authenticity - and the gameplay is a mix of grass-roots arcade and simulation. The controls are instantly instinctive, and the range of players, with different strengths and weaknesses on offer, makes for varied matches.
How well the game delivers ultimately is something we're still finding out, but this is promising. At the very least, and as you'll see in these videos, the game looks very pretty indeed.
