GT4: New Direct Feed, Hi-Res Video
We bring you the goods - three minutes of glorious direct-feed Gran Turismo 4 footage, sraight from Japan.
So everyone's harping on about Gran Turismo 4 like it's the second coming. But really, will it offer anything more than GT3 did in gameplay terms?
Well, the short answer is yes, and the cocky answer is who cares, when it looks this good? Unlike certain hot franchises from other major publishers right now, Polyphiny and SCEI decided to let the world's gaming press play Gran Turismo 4 at practically the same time it was unveiled. And each time we've played it, it's been better.
At the PlayStation Experience last month, the code was clearly shaping up since its E3 debut, but the real telling was at last weekend's Tokyo Game Show, where SCEI's booth had an online-enabled version of the game that worked amazingly well, if not 'perfectly' (to use a word Kazunori-san finds mildly offensive).
And LAN bodge job or not, it's the core gameplay engine that leaves anyone with respect for what goes into making a videogame completely perplexed. There can be no doubt that this is the largest, most impressive videogame simulation undertaking of all time. The attention to detail is obscene, probably illegal.
And to further hit the message home, take a look at this brand new video sequence, direct feed, showing familiar vehicles and tracks in hi-res glory. Don't thank us. Just kiss us!
