Sega GT Online: New Screens & Video
The latest version of Sega GT Online is almost complete, supports tweleve players online, and looks fantastic. New media inside.
Our hands-on with Sega GT Online didn't offer many new surprises compared to our E3 playtest, but that's no bad thing - this game is pretty much complete and looking fantastic.
The first thing you'll notice is how lovely this game looks - giving Gotham 2 a good run for its money, with superbly detailed environments and great effects like the now-standard sun glare and haze.
But this is really a blend of simulation and arcade racing, with the emphasis on Xbox Live competition for up to twelve players. The online features are now fully integrated into the game and menu system, allowing you to find opponents and set up games easily.
More than 40 new cars will make their way into Sega GT Online, ranging from the latest rockets from Japan to the muscle cars of the 70s to complete the full roster of 165 vehicles, including the classic cars of Sega GT 2002. Players will also be able to transfer their Sega GT 2002 save data over and leave their competition behind in a smokescreen with their highly customized cars.
Other aspects of gameplay will have players trying to qualify for licenses, and competing in a series of highly competitive races to earn money in order to enhance their rides or buy newer, more powerful cars. Along with the meaty online mode is an equally beefy offline mode that will challenge you to unlock new cars, parts, and tracks by completing multiple tasks.
Expect a lot more on Sega GT as the game hits Japan later this month and early November in Europe and North America.
