Sony Computer Entertainment's PStwo

According to various sources, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc has registered 'PStwo' as a trademark in Japan, making the prospect of a cut-down PS2 machine highly likely when PlayStation 3 arrives.
Whilst it is common knowledge that PSX, the sexy new PlayStation 2 offering enhanced media delivery and performance, is distributed by Sony Consumer Electronics and debuts next year, little is known about Sony's plans for the new-look budget PS2.
Judging by the original PSone, the unit is likely to be smaller and probably slicker - but it's worth pointing out that unlike PS1 to PSone, the PS2's components are unlikely to be downsized to the same extent, as the architecture has not aged as quickly as PS1's did five years on.
We'll keep you posted on anything PStwo related, most likely closer to any PS3 announcement on its way in the next year or two.
