Halo 2: Lies Exposed, Truth Revealed
Amusing 'rumours' destroy the gullible - needless to say, Halo 2 isn't coming out this year - but there is a preview DVD full of old footage.
A videogame site that shall remain nameless has posted a barrage of Halo 2 related stories over the last few days, suggesting that the game's release will be brought forward to November 15th - a surprise move from Microsoft to mark the original's birthday.
Obviously it's not true - in actual fact, the most 'revealing' article on the site was full of made-up quotes sent in by an 'insider' who planned his sabotage on a popular gaming forum, an evil but amusing move it has to be said.
But to add to the confusion, excited Xbox owners have cited the appearance of a Halo 2 item on the release schedule of retailers, raising hopes that perhaps there would be a surprise demo disk released on November 15.
Well unfortunately that's a load of Xbollocks as well - however, there is a fairly pointless Halo 2 bundle that's been on the shelves of retailers including Best Buy for a fortnight. The bundle consists of a thirdparty controller you probably don't care about, plus a DVD with some Halo 2 footage.
The announcement trailer and this year's E3 trailer are included, along with the 'making of' feature from the recent X03. And if you haven't seen any of those, why not save $20 by getting them below instead?
Halo 2 is still on schedule for an April 2004 release. A Bungie spokesperson said, "I imagine we will have more to say about a firm release date. For now, we stand by what we've always said - Halo 2 will be released when it's finished."
