Final Fantasy 12: First Ever Screens
The first ever screenshots and character artwork for Final Fantasy XII has been revealed a week befor ethe game's official uveiling.
In an apparently early leaked document, scanned from Japan's Weekly Jump magazine and spreading across the internet at a rapid rate, the first ever screens and character artwork images for Final Fantasy 12 have been unveiled.
However, fans of the franchise have been surprised at the pictures, which seem to show Tidus and Yuna back in action. In actual fact the two characters go by the names of 'Vaan' and 'Ashi' respectively in FFXII, although they look pretty much identical to their FFX brethrens. It is also suggested that the same engine from FFX-2 is in use, but obviously this is yet to be confirmed.
Whereas Square had previously suggested a change of style and direction would be in order for the twelfth game - something different from FFX, FFX-2 and obviously FFXI, it seem things will again be along the same lines. The game will feature a city setting with flying vehicles, along the lines of concept artwork that was revealed recently.
But the screenshots - which are unfortunately really tiny - show some kind of jungle setting as well. The artwork style evident in this scan is considerably different to the rendered style of FFX, but the jury's still out on anything relating to FFXII beyond these scarce details.
Square Enix will reveal the game officially on November 19. Stay tuned for further details.
