Sega Ages Titles Coming to the West
In what has to be the best news of the decade, Conspiracy Games has announced it will bring every single Sega Ages title to Europe and North America.
The Sega Ages series, previously only available in Japan, will be coming to Europe and North America, thanks to a new deal reached between Conspiracy Games and Sega of Japan.
Each volume of the Sega Ages series revisits a classic title of yesteryear, ranging from the original Phantasy Star games, Space Harrier and Golden Axe, to the more recent likes of Virtua Racing, which made its playable PS2 debut at September's Tokyo Game Show (see our report and media here).
This is incredibly good news for Sega fans, who were previously doomed to live without the classic remakes unless they forked out for the software on import.
The deal, which spans four years and all fourteen volumes announced to date, gives Conspiracy the exclusive rights to manufacture, market and distribute the titles in North America and European markets.
Conspiracy CEO Sirus Ahmadi said: "Our aim is to preserve the integrity and heart of the titles that were the foundations of this wonderful industry. The partnership of Conspiracy, Constant, and 3D Ages presents an excellent opportunity to bring back these arcade classics in modern form, make them available to long-standing fans and reintroduce them to new generations."
The first five of the Sega Classics series is scheduled for release in Q1 2004. Watch this space for more information, and in the meantime, here's the complete list of all fourteen titles.
