EA Takes Burnout 3, Promises Online
Unofficial reports reveal that EA has taken the rights to Burnout, indicating a PS2-only online exclusive.
Reports this morning reveal that Electronic Arts has acquired the rights to publish the third in Criterion's popular racing franchise, Burnout. The move will no doubt be good for the developer and the Burnout series, as one of EA's most profiled titles for 2004.
The third game is said to be playable online through EA's online infrastructure, which suggests the title will be exclusive to PlayStation 2, since EA still hasn't reached an agreement with Microsoft regarding Xbox Live.
Stay tuned for the first concrete details and screens from Burnout 3, which promises more spectacular crashes and that glorious visuals that fans of the series expect.
Acclaim hasn't been prepared to comment on the news as yet, and official word from EA and Criterion is expected imminently.
