Smash Court 2: Top Spin Meets Match?
Latest details and new screens from Namco's Smash Court Tennis Pro Tournament 2, coming this Summer.
One of SCEE's many recent collaborations with the mighty Namco was Smash Court Tennis Pro Tournament 2, announced back in January. The game is set for a Summer 2004 release. Today we can bring you these latest screens and details.
With Top Spin and the rest of Microsoft's XSN line-up skipping a year, Smash Court Tennis Pro Tournament 2 could well be the tennis game to play this year - with the added bonus of official 2004 Grand Slam features, such as official tournaments like Wimbledon.
Players on offer include Anna Kournikova, Serena Williams, Lleyton Hewitt and Juan Carlos Ferrero. Choose your favourite player and tour the world's most prestigious events to compete against some of the greatest talent from across the globe.
You can go head-to-head with up to three friends using the multitap, and indulge your competitive nature on court by challenging your tennis partners to a game of mixed doubles.
You can also create your own character in Pro Tour Mode and work your way up through the ranking system winning major tournament trophies and collecting points as you go. The Masters Cup is the ultimate accolade, but for that unbeatable feeling of satisfaction there's nothing like seeing your name at the top of the player rankings.
There's the standard arcade mode, but Exhibition Mode is where to go for a quick tennis fix - play a single game by selecting the desired playing conditions (number of games, sets, difficulty level, characters, venues etc). Insert a Multitap and challenge your pals to some hot doubles action as up to 4 players compete.
The diverse mini-game scenarios in Challenge Mode will put even the most experienced tennis pro through their paces. Several mini-games must be successfully completed to finish the stage and the longer you spend playing the game, the more challenging stages become available. Try repelling the relentless ball machines before the timer runs out in "Impact Shooter" with powerfully struck shots, or continuously return the ball to your coach in "Hurry Step".
With addictive game play, photo-realistic visuals to compare to Microsoft's Top Spin, and "pick up and play" user-friendliness, Smash Court Tennis Pro Tournament 2 features a huge range of strokes to master including topspin backhands, half-volley drop shots, lobs, smashes and pinpoint passing shots, it will keep tennis fans coming back for more.
Stay tuned for more on Smash Court Tennis 2 as we get it.
