Official: Europe GT4 Prologue Signature
Sony finally makes it official, Prologue is still on its way to Europe after some recent doubts. First look at European box art inside.
As we exclusively revealed last month, Gran Turismo 4 Prologue is on its way to European shelves - and today, that's official.
SCEE finally announced the release of Gran Turismo 4: Prologue Signature Edition, although it looks like the preview style game will hit stores a little later than originally planned. We originally revealed the release date to be May 14, but today Sony's announcement advice confirms "end of May".
The announcement casts away fresh doubts earlier this week of the European release being canned. Rather, it seems the release had been slightly delayed. The price will be a tidy £24.99.
David Reeves, President of SCEE said "The Gran Turismo series is one of the true success stories of PlayStation 2, having sold over 35 million copies worldwide since its launch in 1997. We are delighted to be able to offer devoted European fans the chance to play this enhanced Collector's Edition of Prologue as they await the release of GT4 later this year".
Prologue Signature Edition will be "available in limited numbers for the most dedicated GT fans" according to the announcement. As we reported before, each copy will come with a "message" from Kazunori Yamauchi, the creator of the critically acclaimed series, which explains the creative thinking behind the production of Prologue.
The latest Gran Turismo game features 46 tests to improve your driving skills and 64 different cars, each with their own realistic handling and dynamics based on the team's incredible efforts to photograph record and drive each car in the game.
The European version will also include a 'Making of GT4' movie which previews this eagerly anticipated PlayStation 2 game, shows unique behind the scenes footage and gives advice on just what makes a great driver. Prologue players will also be rewarded for their commitment and training with a head-start saved on their memory card for Gran Turismo 4.
Gran Turismo 4: Prologue Signature Edition is a pretty hot purchase in its own right, as our hands-on with the Japanese version demonstrated last year.
Just remember where you heard it first! And stay tuned for lots more GT4 from E3. No U.S. release for Prologue is scueduled.
