Crash 'n' Burn: Screens 'n' Footage
Take a look at the first screens and a mouth-watering teaser trailer from Climax's forthcoming Crash 'n' Burn.
Eidos has released the first screens of Crash 'n' Burn, the Burnout-style smash-fest developed by Sudeki creators, Climax. We added a couple ourselves too, along with the teaser trailer.
The racer, coming this autumn to PS2 and Xbox, sees players choose their car, paint it, polish it, and personalise it. Then build it up with new components, giant spoilers and reinforced fenders. Supercharge it, fill it with nitrous and then take it to the back street circuits of Miami, San Francisco, L.A. and New York.
As the publisher puts it: "You're at the back of the pack, grid position sixteen with fifteen cars ahead of you, polished until they gleam. Your primary objective is to take first place; your secondary objective is to run everyone else off the road. Crunch them into the barrier, rip, shred and tear sheet metal from their frames, leave their burning engine blocks and melted tires in your wake."
The last driver with four wheels wins, it says here, but the real appeal of the game is likely to be in the crashes themselves. It's not quite up there with the Crash XNA demo - but the rendered crash sequence from this teaser trailer looks pretty darn cool.
Stay tuned for our hands-on with Crash 'n' Burn next week.
