E3 2004: First Ever Nintendo DS Photo
Here's your first look at Nintendo's new handheld system before the conference even begins. New details revealed!
Bar some amusing fakes and "artist impressions" of Nintendo's new dual screen handheld device, this is the first time you'll Nintendo DS has been seen. Predictably cool isn't it?
First appearing on USA Today, reflecting Nintendo typical mainstream PR approach (unless of course this was an embargo-shattering information leak) the official Nintendo DS photo shows a game of Mario Kart in action - with the top screen showinig the game action, and the bottom, touch sensitive screen, showing the course map, game details and so on.
It also has two cartridge slots, to support apparently to support existing GBA titles, as well as accomodate the new Nintendo DS cartridges. The DS also has Bluetooth wireless communication to connect with other units within range for cordless competition, according to the article.
Shigeru Miyamoto told the newspaper, "We want to do things that you could not do before. We are looking at the creative end." The unit is expected to sell at around $150 - considerably cheaper than PSP which is expected to set gamers back around $300.
We'll have a detailed report from Nintendo's conference later this afternoon, along with Sony's PSP announcement which takes place beforehand, following our comprehensive Xbox lowdown yesterday. Stay right here!
