What is NEW Super Mario Bros?
Nintendo takes a classic and makes it "Supersized" - find out more inside.
Although not much is known about NEW Super Mario Bros. for Nintendo DS, the video shown at the recent E3 in Los Angeles makes the game out to be a pretty wild variation of the original Super Mario Bros. game, maintaining the look but giving it a whole new feel.
Mario and his enemies both have the ability to grow to a full screen's height (and possibly two screens high?) when they find a mushroom. This allows them the strength of a giant, crashing through blocks and other obstacles and destroying enemies with ease.
It's not yet known how the game will utilize the touch screen features of the portable, but Mario has been given a new set of moves that are right out of Super Smash Bros., and likely controlled with the touch screen.
The game offers miles of possibility for fans of the original classic that started it all. Could this be the Nintendo DS system-seller right alongside Metroid? Stay tuned and you might just find out.
