Konami Unveils PC Silent Hill 4
Which for us, means an excuse to show you these cool new screens.
Following our in-depth hands-on with Silent Hill 4: The Room last month, we bring you these new screens from the forthoming PC version of Silent Hill 4.
Produced by Akira Yamaoka and the creative development team at Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo, the new title in the series promises to push the envelope in the survival-horror genre, inspiring fear in players' hearts and homes.
Although the E3 experience with the game was slightly difficult to appreciate, given the noisy atmosphere and limited time, the game continues to shape up nicely.
The game begins in the sleepy town of South Ashfield, only a few short miles from Silent Hill. When the game's new hero, Henry Townshend awakens from a nightmare, he finds that he cannot leave his apartment. The door to the outside is heavily chained and boarded shut. Sounds emanate from the bathroom, but when he goes to investigate he notices a strange tunnel that will inevitably lead him directly into the heart of darkness.
Driven to deliver a frightful entertainment experience that is as scary as it is gratifying, the unsettling narrative of Silent Hill 4: The Room strikes fear in the hearts of its players. Traveling between the real world and a haunted alternate world, players will be forced to unravel a twisted mystery by deciphering a series of often-perplexing puzzles and clues.
Adding further intimacy to the gameplay experience is the title's new 1st-person viewpoint within the real world and its 3rd-person viewpoint in the haunted alternate world. When the blood-curdling tale invades the privacy and sanctity of their home, players will likely find that the lifelike visuals will inspire real-life nightmares and nights filled with restless sleep.
Silent Hill 4: The Room is slated for release in September 2004. Stay tuned for further updates.
