Gates to Give CES Keynote
Guess what speculation that leads to?
The announcement of a keynote speaker is usually not of general interest, but this is a special case. The Consumer Electronics Association announced Monday that Microsoft's Bill Gates will be giving the opening keynote address at January's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. What makes this of interest is the likelihood that Gates will reveal specifics for Microsoft's successor to the Xbox.
At CES in January 2001, Gates officially unveiled the Xbox. Though Microsoft has not confirmed anything regarding the launch of the Xbox successor, it is widely believed in the industry that the hardware will be released sometime in 2005. Microsoft has previously stated that the new console will be on show at May's E3 in Los Angeles, and if history repeats itself we could well see an announcement in January at CES.
