Star Wars III Goes Portable
UbiSoft commits to GBA, PSP and Nintendo DS.
Next summer will see the conclusion of the Star Wars prequel trilogy in the form of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith. Ubisoft has announced that it has entered into an agreement with LucasArts to develop a game based on the film. What makes this project unique is that the game is being prepared for all three portable platforms: Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS and PSP.
Not content with shoe-horning the same game into the three very disparate handhelds, the development team at Ubisoft Montreal - the same studio responsible for the Prince Of Persia and Splinter Cell series - plan to take full advantage of the unique gameplay opportunities presented by each handheld and combine them with the new locations and characters from the movie.
"Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith will be the video game that every handheld gaming fan on the planet will enjoy playing - including those of the epic Star Wars series," said Ubisoft's Alain Corre.
"This ultimate Jedi action game will astound gamers using the new handheld technology from Sony's PSP and the Nintendo DS. As always, it's a pleasure to pursue our partnership with LucasArts, particularly with such a hot license."
Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith will be released alongside the movie in the summer of 2005.
