Sonic Heroes Passes One Million
More than one million served in Europe.
Sega has announced that its most recent Sonic The Hedgehog game, Sonic Heroes, has sold more than one million copies in Europe.
The platform adventure game developed by Sonic Team was released in Europe in February 2004 and spent several weeks at the top of Chart Track's best-seller list.
"The phenomenal success of Sonic Heroes demonstrates that the Sonic The Hedgehog brand is stronger now than ever," said Mike Hayes, Managing Director at Sega Europe.
"We are proud that our legendary mascot has retained his mass-market appeal, an integral element of the continuing multiplatform growth of the European arm of Sega."
After proving its worth on home consoles, Sonic Heroes is scheduled for release on PC in late November.
Meanwhile, nostalgia-ridden gamers can look forward to picking up the Sonic Mega Collection Plus for Xbox and PlayStation 2 in the first quarter of 2005.
Sonic Mega Collection Plus pools most of the spiked, blue Sega mascot's best titles from the Mega Drive and GameGear. Included in the package are seven Sonic Mega Drive games, six GameGear games, and four unlockable Sega classic games.
