GTA: San Andreas on Top in UK
Now this one's a shocker. Latest charts.
In news that should surprise no one, Chart Track has revealed that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was the best-selling game in the UK last week.
The severity of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas's dominance, though, is what is catching people's attention. In its first two days on sale, the game sold over 575,000 copies, nearly doubling the opening figures for Grand Theft Auto: Vice City in 2002.
This sales feat makes Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas the fastest selling game of all time in the UK. After only two days, the game is the 11th best selling game in the life of the PlayStation 2.
Rockstar’s action game came out on top of the industry analyst group’s most recent sales chart for the week ending 30 October.
With the No 1 spot a given, the competition for the second spot was fierce, but EA’s FIFA 2005 managed to once again trounce Pro Evolution Soccer 4. Tony Hawk’s Underground 2 continues its healthy performance in fourth position, while EA’s Burnout 3: Takedown rounded out the top five.
The complete top 10 games in the UK for the week ending 30 October are:
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Rockstar)
- FIFA 2005 (EA)
- Pro Evolution Soccer 4 (Konami)
- Tony Hawk's Underground 2 (Activision)
- Burnout 3: Takedown (EA)
- Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 (EA)
- LMA Manager 2005 (Codemasters)
- Star Wars: Battlefront (LucasArts)

More exciting chart action next week!
