Riddick Developer Moves to Next Gen
Sweden-based Starbreeze gets fresh deal.
Majesco has announced that it is working together with Swedish developer Starbreeze on a project for next-generation consoles, with an eye for release in 2006. Starbreeze is the critically acclaimed creator behind Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay, which was released exclusively for Xbox earlier in 2004.
"Our partnership with Starbreeze underscores our commitment in securing talented and creative studios to develop our products as well as assist us in providing content for current and future platforms," said Jesse Sutton, president of Majesco.
Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft are all working on successors to their current home consoles.
Sony and Microsoft have previously confirmed that they will unveil their new hardware within the next six months.
Microsoft president Bill Gates is expected to deliver the first information on his company's console successor as early as January 2005, when he delivers the keynote address at next year's Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas.
Sony has previously stated that it will release the first details for the so-called 'PlayStation 3' before the end of its financial year in March 2005.
It is widely believed that all three consoles will be on display at the videogame industry's trade show, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, which takes place in May in Los Angeles.
