Guild Wars a Hit
Preview event seems a success.
NCSoft recently held a preview event for its upcoming massively multiplayer online game Guild Wars and the results were an undeniable success. Over the course of the weekend, 400,000 people took to NCSoft's servers to try out the game.
"The World Preview Event was a great opportunity for people to try out Guild Wars," said Jeff Strain, Guild Wars producer. "We were pleased that so many took advantage of this unique opportunity."
Those who missed it need not fret though. NCSoft will be holding another free preview event this coming weekend. Starting at 12.01am PST (8.01am BST) on Saturday, 6 November, gamers with a copy of the demo will be able to play along with hundreds of thousands of gamers from across the world.
To access the event, simply pick up the current issue of PC Gamer magazine, which will provide access to the preview via its cover disk.
"We've been delighted by the huge numbers of European gamers who played in the World Preview Event," said NCSoft's Stephen Reid.
"I hope many more people take the opportunity to preview Guild Wars during the upcoming Beta Weekends, ahead of Guild Wars' global launch."
NCSoft is planning preview regular preview events between now and the game's eventual release in 2005. Each weekend, gamers will be able to try out new features of the Guild Wars world.
