Halo 2 Takes Top Spot in UK
With a couple of impressive new entries.
It was out with the old and in with the new in the UK last week, with four new entries taking up positions in the top ten of industry analyst group Chart Track's Entertainment Software sales chart.
Microsoft's highly anticipated first person shooter Halo 2 took the No. 1 position, with sales of 260,000 copies earning the company nearly £10 million in just three days since its release on Thursday. This makes Halo 2 the third best-selling game on the Xbox to date.
According to Chart Track, an estimated one in six Xbox owners picked up the title in its debut weekend, as opposed to one in ten PlayStation 2 owners that picked up second placed title Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas during its first weekend on sale last month.
Elsewhere in the top five, THQ's WWE: SmackDown! Vs RAW proved the strength of the WWE brand, while FIFA 2005 from EA and Football Manager from Sega represented the requisite footie contingent.
Notable new entries last week include The Getaway: Black Monday, the locally developed sequel to Sony's crime-action game.
Sony did suffer one setback, though, in the form of Ratchet & Clank 3, which debuted at No. 17. This is stil much better than Nintendo's Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, which entered the chart in the 36th position.
Below are the top ten titles for the week ending 13 November.

- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Rockstar)
