Post Argonaut: Death Yields Heaven
Just Add Monsters saved from Argonaut
The premature death of UK-based publisher and developer Argonaut left many wondering what would happen to Just Add Monsters. The team behind Kung-Fu Chaos had previously been working on Heavenly Sword for next generation consoles and had already shown off the prototype to industry insiders.
Thanks to investment by the former directors of Just Add Monsters, the team, its assets and tools and Heavenly Sword have all been rescued from Argonaut's financial quagmire, with the next-gen title now in development at the newly-rechristened Ninja Theory.
"We have gone through hell tackling the creative, technological and business challenges of next-gen game development. But we've come out of the worst intact and it feels great to be a truly independent company once again," said Chief Development Ninja Nina Kristensen.
Already the team is approaching the next generation of hardware as something more than just a platform for better graphics.
Chief Design Ninja Tameem Antoniades explains: "We made a strategic decision to start very early and craft a gaming experience worthy of the 'next-gen' moniker."
"We really want to make something pretty damn special rather than same old crap with shiny new graphics."
