Sony and Nike Team Up on EyeToy
EyeToy: Kinetic seems like an exercise game.
Video gaming is generally viewed as a sedentary pastime, but that may be about to change. Sony announced today that it is finishing up work on EyeToy: Kinetic, a fitness title developed in co-operation with Nike Motionworks.
As the name suggests, EyeToy: Kinetic is more of an exercise title than an actual game. Through consultation with health and fitness experts, the developers have put together an exercise regime that claims to increase overall fitness, posture and reflexes by making use of the EyeToy camera.
"EyeToy: Kinetic was an interesting project for the Nike Motionworks team to be involved with, as it is targeting an audience that we are very familiar with through a completely different medium," said Nike's Albert Shum.
"We are continually focused on ways to inspire young people to be active and we think video games may provide another long-term access point for this."
EyeToy: Kinetic is set for release in 2005.
