GTA: San Andreas Back on Top
Rockstar's epic beats down Halo 2.
A week after Halo 2 displaced Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas from the top of Chart Track's UK best-seller list, Rockstar's freeform action game is back at No 1, with Halo 2 falling down to fourth position in the face of strong competition.
In a week that saw two of the most anticipated releases of the year, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas demonstrated its resilience by edging out Need For Speed: Underground 2 for the top spot.
EA's car-modding racer in turn pushed Half-Life 2 into the third position on its debut weekend. Despite only coming in third for the week, Half-Life 2 still performed well enough to make it the third fastest-selling PC game ever.
The two best-performing new entries, Need For Speed: Underground 2 and Half-Life 2, have both been hotly tipped for the year's best sellers, and it is expected that the current top rankers - together with a handful of upcoming titles - will be jostling for the top positions for the remainder of the year.
Rounding out the top five was THQ's latest wrestling title, WWE: SmackDown! Vs RAW.
Here are the top 10 best-selling games in the UK for the week ending 20 November:
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Rockstar)
- Need For Speed: Underground 2 (EA)
- Half-Life 2 (Sierra)
- Halo 2 (Microsoft)
