US Gamers Hit Hard by Save Bug
Months of game progress destroyed!
US gamers were in for a nasty surprise this month when they picked up Sony's recent Holiday 2004 Demo Disc. The disc, which contains demos for a smattering of current and future hot releases, also contains a bug that can wipe entire memory cards.
Soon after the demo disc was released, gamers started reporting the odd behaviour. It seems there is a flaw in the Viewtiful Joe 2 demo that causes all save files on any memory card attached to the PlayStation 2 to be erased.
Sony has since acknowledged the problem and given gamers a workaround. Sadly, that doesn't help those who have now lost hundreds of hours of progress in some of the lengthier games to come out in recent months.
