GTA Prelude Revealed, Soundtrack Verdict
Rockstar has today lovingly placed GTA's stunning soundtrack on store shelves - here's our mini-review along with a video of "The Intrdoduction" Bonus DVD.
Today is another special day for fans of the Grand Theft Auto series as Rockstar's anticipated Official Soundtrack hits your local CD rack.
There are two versions hitting shelves. The first is out today - a Double CD OST with Bonus DVD called "The Introduction" - a cinematic prelude to the events that unfold in the San Andreas videogame. The DVD is a superb slice of added value, while the Double CD concisely wraps up some of San Andreas' hottest themes and beats, including 2Pac's "I Don't Give a" and Cypress Hill's "How I Could Just Kill a Man".
You can check out a teaser trailer for The Introduction below - this has to be one of the best ways of flogging a videogame's OST ever seen. Highlighting the action in the days before the game begins, the story is told from various characters' viewpoints intertwined together to reveal the network of organised crime forces operating throughout the State of San Andreas.
A range of tracks are included on the Double CD reaching from modern and classic hip-hop, techno, funk, R&B, alternative, classic rock, soul, reggae and country. Imagine yourself on the west coast in the 90s a truly influential place at that time and this bundle packages it quite neatly.
But the real daddy of all gaming soundtracks is released on December 6. The mega 8 CD boxset includes an entire CD for each of San Andreas' major radio stations - with around fifteen tracks on each CD, including a couple of radio skits and the traditionally GTA, highly amusing "commercial messages".
Without doubt, the 8 CD box set allows for a fuller, more immersive experience. The local radio personalities present their shows to the streets of San Andreas - each one representing another slice of life from this huge state in the 90s, with well over 100 tracks from Willie Nelson.
The inclredible packages covers all the genres you've heard in the game - and is really unmissable for fans of the game and moreover, anyone who wants to join in celebrating some of the 1990s' most illustrious sounds.
